Obsessions

In dictionary I found that an obsession is a compulsive preocupation with a fixed idea or an unwanted feeling or emotion, often accompained by symptoms of anxiety, or a compulsive, often unreasonable idea or emotion. For me, an obsession is something that is difficult to keep out of our mind, it could be an idea, feeling, emotion or action that is hard to us to stop.

There are different types of obsessions, some are:

Scrubbers: Persons that have an obsession of been clean every day, they take more than ten showers in a day an wash their hands every single moment. They need to be clean every time. Some wash their hands for hours, until they even bleed. Others can't fail to clean their houses.

Verifiers: There are people that have to verify a lot of times what they do to be sure that is correct or to be sure of something. For example: Pablo is a guy that hate drive, when he comes home after work, he returns to the streets to see if he hit someone with the car. Then he returns again to his house, but he think it could forget looking in a place, because of that, he goes out again, and again.

The perfect order: Others are obsessed with order. Things have to be right on their site and not an inch beyond.

Collectors: Other people, collect a lot of things. For example: Marie is a girl that every day buy shoes, she have like thousand pairs, but she continues buying because she think that some day she are going to need those shoes.

Obsessive dialogue: Some, start to talk with their selves. They invent imaginary conversations. For example the mind of a guy says to him "You do it" and he answers "No, I don't" and he continues talking with his mind. The internal dialogue can takes years, continually coming and going several times a day, never stopping, unable to avoid.

The pure obsessive: Those people don't do anything to eliminate their obsessive thought, they just think in that. Some are obsessed with the idea of committing shameful uncontrollably, or everyday concerns such as the possibility of being fired and all its catastrophic consequences ("If I get fired I will not have enough money to pay the mortgage, I will lose the ground, I will come below, I can not find another job ...").

This history is not real, but is an example of an obsession.

My name is Jamie, I am a 15 years old girl, and I have an obsession. Is not a normal obsession for girls of my age, like some of my friends that are bulimics and anorexics, no, I have a different problem that is so hard to me to control, I have an obsession with shopping.
One day I take the credit card of my dad without permission, thinking I wouldn't buy more than two things, but I was run. I started to bought everything I see in front of me, until the credit of the card get to zero. I was so disappointed with myself.
My parents, was so concerned. Now there are searching a psychologist for me. I want the help because I think in shopping every day, I am nervious, my legs are trembling and I can't control it. I have bad grates in the school and I am so stress.  Every time I have money I spend on anything and then I feel bad with myself. I am making many mistakes with my life, now I have all this consecuences plus the the bankruptcy of my parents, all for my fault.

My reflections

I selected two pictures to demonstrate that we repeated our experiment two times.

First, is important to say that we prepare bread, we did 11 samples, 4 for the first experiment, 4 for the second and 3 for the last.

Bread recipe
- 2 cups of flour
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of salt

Recipe of the yeast
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder (yeast)
- 1 teaspoon of sugar

The first experiment was of variation in the amount of yeast that we apply to each bread. In the first variation we use 1 teaspoon of yeast, in the second 1/2, in the third  2 and in the fourth we don´t use yeast. Our conclusion was that when we use more amount of yeast, the bread are going to grow more.

Our second experiment was the preparation of the yeast with sugar variations. In the first experiment we use 1 teaspoon, in the second 1/2, in the third 2 and in the fourth we don´t use sugar. Our conclusion was that when we use more amount of sugar in the yeast, the bread are going to grow more.

Our last experiment was the changes in water temperature where yeast is dissolved. In the first experiment we use water at room temperature, in the second we use hot water and in the third we use cold water. Our conclusion was that when the temperature is higher the bread are going to grow up and going to taste better.
